I couldn’t believe that I couldn’t find a pattern for a handmaid. So, of course, I had to make one myself. This cute little amigurumi was inspired by the Hulu show AND the book, The Handmaid’s Tale. I love both equally. I read the book first, but immensely enjoyed the show as well.
For those worried about the dark elements, I would recommend reading the book first. It is not nearly as dark or graphic as the Hulu show. While most of the same things are happening in both, the book doesn’t get as descriptive with the more disturbing aspects.
Now onto the pattern!
You will need:
- crochet hook (I used a G hook, but size will very based on your hook size)
- yarn needle
- Vanna’s Choice yarn in White, Scarlet, and your choice of skin-tone color (I used Fisherman, Beige, and Taupe respectively.)
- small amount of poly-fil

These are adorable! I am a big fan of the book, but I haven’t had time to start the series just yet. Great tutorial!
